Dry Stream Bed

Due to the challenging situation with heavy clay soils and lots of standing water up to 8 months of the year, we installed a drainage system with a hugelkultur component. One drainage area we have made into a dry stream bed to recognize (the now underground) Gladstone Creek.

Hugelkultur Drainage System - September 2012

In 2012, we had a challenging situation with heavy clay soils and lots of standing water up to 8 months of the year. The solution was to install a drainage system with a hugelkultur component as well as a series of rain gardens. We rented an excavator and a qualified operator, installed a drain pipe and the woody debris, added compost and completed the bed installation.
